Bathroom cabinets etc…

The photographs here illustrate some recent work I did for a client in Brighton. The work includes a pedestal cabinet for the bathroom basin, a bath panel and a fitted cabinet built around the boxed-in pipework behind the toilet.

Fitted Wardrobe

Cabinets with shelving unit

For this project I built and installed custom made shelving and storage units for clients in Brighton & Hove. The photograph (click to enlarge) shows one of a pair units. The cupboards and shelves were built to the clients specification in my Hove workshop. The example pictured here is a made-to-measure cabinet built to house a record collection and stereo system, complete with shelves for CDs. A similar unit (not pictured here) was built for a TV & DVD etc. The cabinets will now be primed and painted.

Stairs cupboard

The photographs below show an under-stairs cupboard. The space under a staircase can be great for storage, the challenge here was to decide how best to use this awkward shaped space. The solution was to build a walk-in cupboard at the tallest end, complete with a wardrobe clothes rail. In the middle section I fitted a 3 drawer unit hidden behind a pair of doors and at the shallow end, a large drawer to house a vacuum cleaner. The completed cupboard is now ready to paint.

Fold-away desk

The photos show a folding drop-leaf desk I recently made. The client works from home and asked for a desk which could be folded away when not in use. The desk is constructed from MDF with a melamine finish with softwood legs & frame. I have also included the original 3d design/sketch.

Kitchen Worktops

The photographs here show one of the beech kitchen worktops that I recently fitted in a property in Brighton. In this example only the worktops were replaced, installed to fit with the existing kitchen cabinets, sink and fittings. The worktop is finished with many coats of oil to ensure a hard-wearing and water resistant surface.

Artist’s studio / Garden shed

I was asked to construct, install and glaze some very tall windows and a door for a garden studio. The client is a Brighton-based artist & designer who required extra space to enable him to work from home. The front wall of the studio is formed of five glazed frames each 10′2″ (3.1m) tall and is constructed from softwood using traditional joinery techniques. The following photographs show the work in progress…

Coffee Table

Furniture making in the workshop in Brighton & Hove. Having spent much of the last month out of the workshop refurbishing sash windows, it was good to return to furniture making with this project. The coffee table pictured is made from oak.
