Glazed Oak Bookcases

The photographs above show a pair of oak bookcases that go together to form a single large cabinet. The made-to-measure bookcases are designed to make best use of the available space. Fitting into an alcove recess, the cabinet extends slightly forward at the top to accommodate larger books. The cabinets are constructed from a combination of solid oak and veneered boards and each have a pair of sliding glass doors. Oak Bookcases

I was recently commissioned to build a set of bookcases in oak for a study room overcrowded with books. The bookcases are constructed from oak veneered boards and finished with oil. With projects such as this the majority of the work is done at my workshop, followed by a couple of days at the property to install the pieces and complete the work. Fitted bookcase with oak edging.

The photographs here show a wall-to-wall fitted bookcase. The project in Rottingdean, Brighton helps to utilise storage space, allowing a small room to serve as an office, a library, a guest bedroom and a lounge. The shelving is constructed from white laminated boards with solid oak timber edging.

Pine wardrobe

I have been very busy lately working on various projects. Also, I have been surprised by the large number of enquiries in what I had previously thought to be the quietest part of the year. This project was completed a few weeks ago, so here are a couple of photographs showing the finished piece. The cabinets each contain four drawers and a hanging-rail. The panelled doors slide to open, helping to save some space in a small room.

Double glazed sash windows.

The photograph here shows one of 3 double glazed sash windows I recently made and installed at a property in Brighton.

The timber sash windows are each draft-proofed and double glazed (with 24mm k-glass glazing units). They have been finished with a traditional style architrave and primed ready to paint. Note: snow and sub-zero temperatures don’t help much when fitting windows, get in touch now to arrange installations for spring/summer 2011. Bathroom cabinets etc…

The photographs here illustrate some recent work I did for a client in Brighton. The work includes a pedestal cabinet for the bathroom basin, a bath panel and a fitted cabinet built around the boxed-in pipework behind the toilet.

Cherry shelving unit & oak cabinet

Update: The shelving unit for records, as mentioned in my last post, is now complete . The first photo here shows the completed unit before it had been varnished. In the second photo the unit has now been spray-lacquered to bring out the beauty of the cherry-wood veneer. Click on photographs to enlarge.

Simple alcove shelves

Simple shelves fitted into alcoves are probably the thing I am asked to build more often than anything else. The MDF shelves pictured here are an excellent and affordable was to utilize the space either side of a fireplace. In this example the shelves in the right side alcove are build slightly bigger and once painted will support a television.
